Talk about climbing the corporate ladder. Shaunice Hawkins, Vice President of Membership for the Magazine Publishers of America (MPA), has a successful career that she continues to cultivate. As Vice President, Shaunice is responsible for promoting the MPA’s membership program worldwide. One of the primary groups that she works with is college students of diverse ethnicities hoping to start a career in the publishing industry. In less than five years, Shaunice received three promotions within the MPA. She joined the company in 2004 as Director of Diversity Development, received a promotion in 2007 to Vice President of Diversity & Multicultural Initiatives before landing in her most recent position.
Shaunice has a long history of making strides in corporate America. Her background spans into the financial sector with almost 10 years of experience with various companies. She’s also held a number of diversity and workforce management roles and has advised Fortune 500 companies on program development and strategic planning. Shaunice is well trained in her area of expertise. She holds several degrees and certificates from New York University, St. John’s University, Cornell University and Tulane University with a focus on business, diversity and human capital management. This girlfriend definitely has the knowledge to educate others on issues of diversity and employee relations. Her commitment to highlighting the need for more diversity in the workplace shows Shaunice’s dedication to making corporate America a level playing field. Shaunice enjoys her career path because she’s determined to open doors for future generations.
While working her way up the career ladder, Shaunice also gives back to the community. She serves as a visiting professor at Cornell, Drake, Howard, New York and Rutgers Universities as well as the University of Kentucky. Shaunice’s lectures focus racial diversity, corporate cultures and leadership skills needed for success in today’s workforce. She’s also a media sponsor of A. Philip Randolph Campus High School’s Journalism Program in West Harlem and participates in NYU’s Urban Journalism Workshop.
