We caught up with, Mo Brown, personality/rising media mogul/and all-around swell lady. The interview was fun and we look forward to watching her continue to strive for success. Here is what she had to say…
Guts. Glam. Grace: Are you living your dreams?
Mo Brown: Yes [smiles]. There is sooo much more to do but I am definitely on the path that I dreamed of as a little girl. To wake up in the morning and still have a great passion for what you do every single day is a great thing.
GGG: Are your career goals in line with your personal goals?
MB: I want to be a successful woman who is respected for her hard work, passion for the arts, and for being persistent and consistent. You have to GET UP, GET OUT and DO IT! The IT is whatever your heart desires. My personal goals are to never give up-and every day I push and strive to reach another goal that is greater than the day before. I would like to show my siblings and younger generations that you must believe in yourself and that can do whatever you put your mind to.
GGG: Tell us about your company.
MB: I am a Performing Artist, Radio Host and Voice Over Artist. I host, and engineer The Diva Brown Show on iTunes and podcast at www.mobrownsuga.podomatic.com which delivers soul knockin, body rockin music, Topic of the day, Entertainment News, Interviews, energy and good times to keep your worries behind! I am also currently playing the role of Star in the new film ‘Love In Zodiac’, and have performed with the Classical Theatre Of Harlem/ Alfred Preisser. As an actor I decided to take on a new venture that has been something so interesting and a breakthrough for me as well. I have just directed my first Independent Short Film called ‘Sealed’. Available soon! YES! I did take directing courses in college but never imagined me Directing in my life! HA! Motivation for me to keep on striving to be a positive hardworking woman in the entertainment industry! Check out www.mobrownsuga.net and www.nycastings.com for my voice over samples recent roles.
GGG: Has there been an event/person that has greatly influenced you to be the person you are today?
MB: My aunt Esther Williams is such a strong woman that takes care of 4 boys, my grandmother that has Parkinson’s and Diabetes, my god father whom also has Diabetes, and a strong marriage. My aunt Esther had Hashimoto, Grave Disease, and Hyperthyroidism and lesions which caused her to have to get a Thyroidectomy (Thyroids removed). Now she has to take hormone replacements/medication for the rest of her life. Throughout all of this, she keeps on working and is such a jokester who loves to try and party, laugh, and stay positive. She is such strong woman that keeps her spirits high, and I admire her for that. She keeps me going.
GGG: Three years ago, did you envision yourself being where you are today? If not what’s different? What would you change?
MB: Yes and No. I knew that I was going to be an actor and host but I never thought that I would be directing and creating/writing my own work. It’s a blessing and I am ready for more!
GGG: How do you empower yourself? What keeps you motivated and staying on course to reach your goals?
MB: I pray! I look in the mirror and speak positivity and I surround myself with other positive people. My siblings make me want to strive for the best. I also support others and I eat to celebrate!!! J
GGG: Who/what keeps you grounded?
MB: My student Loans- I NEED TO FINISH PAYING THEM OFF!! Looking at them makes me say -DANG I HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO!! hahaha
GGG: How do you embody guts, glamour and grace?
MB: I embody Guts because I am not afraid to be sensitive and tough at the same time. I strive for my goals. I am a hard worker who believes in being the best you can be. I believe in fighting until you can’t go anymore and never giving up.
Glamour means having an enhanced attractiveness about one’s self. I am fun, energetic, honest, emotional, positive person whom is also jokester. I am not afraid of it. I am me. I embody Glamour because I am not afraid to be the beautiful me that God made me. This makes you beautiful and glamorous on the inside and out!
I embody Grace by having love, giving love, supporting people, praying for people and genuinely loving them. I embody Grace by working on my flaws- and trying to be forgiving. By having grace, I am striving to be a positive lady and not sell my goods for a penny. I can be a positive member in society without selling my soul to the devil! YUP!
GGG: What are some key beauty/grooming tips you live by?
MB: I like to keep up a natural inner and outer beauty. *Wink* Yes I like to wear a hair piece or two but I take care of my natural hair, skin, and body by using natural products and eating right. Aloe, olive oil, shea and coconut oils are my beeest friends! I am hypoglycemic so it’s important for me to eat great meals, fruits, veggies and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
GGG: Tell use 5 fun facts.

GGG: With your success, do you think money can buy you happiness?
MB: Hmm… No- money can’t buy you a true support system like family, loving friends and people who truly love you.
GGG: What advice can you give to other people on the rise?
MB: Be persistent, consistent, and POSITIVE. Dream it, Speak it, Believe it, LIVE it!
GGG: What’s up next? Projects, trips, next big splurge…
