Sex and children does not always work. You love practicing the art of procreation in order to get the kids. But once you have them, practicing said art doesn’t seem as fun (or convenient) anymore. Poopy diapers, snotty noses, bath time, bedtime, and story time all can take away from good-loving-time between you and your mate. Whatever you do, schedule a ‘Date Night’ or even a ‘Sex Night’ with your partner. That way you know what to expect on when that date rolls around! Here are some simple tips to help you ease back into those almost forgotten nights of passion and bliss:
Allow your kids to sleepover. Sometimes you may cringe at the thought of leaving your child over So-and-so’s house because you still don’t understand their kiss-the-dog-in-the-mouth philosophy, but let your kids stay! 1.) It will be good to socialize your children with dogs. 2.) You and your mate will have a house free of children. And, 3.) Quality Time with your mate is the entire point, right?
Now that they are out of the house, you can do a little, repeat, a little light cleaning, but remember this is your QT night so don’t go overboard. Leave that smudge of jelly stuck to the dining room table. It will be okay to tackle it another day.
You need to set the mood. Buy some candles, order out (or pick up a fancy meal), toss rose petals on the floor for your mate to find. The petals should to your bathroom where a nice hot bubble bath has been drawn OR to your bedroom where flavored soy candles are to be drizzled and massaged into tired, sexually frustrated skin.
Next, just let Mother Nature take her course. If you aren’t too tired from your Soccer Mom/Dad duties, indulge and enjoy your partner. Remind them how much you love them with sweet smiles, sincere laughs, and complementing words “Did I tell you that you are such a sexy man?” “You know your butt looked so cute the other day when you were bending over picking up Roger’s toys.” Gaze into your partners eyes and forget about your children for a few hours. Just enjoy your present moment.
If you are financially able, do all of this at a nearby luxury hotel. This way, you don’t have to bother with picking up those darn rose petals. Better yet, hire a maid service to clean up your home while everyone is out of the house. When you return, your 1-night getaway will be 1,000 times better when entering a clean house!
