In this economic climate, any and all methods are welcome when it comes to potentially increasing one’s wealth or job prospects. The ancient Chinese art of Feng Shui may not be high up on your list of financial solutions, but it may help you bring balance and peace to your everyday life. Feng Shui follows an energy map called the Bagua, which divides space into nine sections with one section being the chi, or heart of the space. The different spaces or sections each correlate to one aspect of your life (i.e. love, wealth, relationships, fame, physical and emotional health, children, travelling, career, self enlightenment). This article will focus exclusively on the space which is connected to wealth: the far southeast corner of a room.
Increasing your chances of wealth through Feng Shui, the art of placement, involves exactly that: placing the right objects in the right position. Here are some basic tips on what you can include in your office or living space to attract fortune to your doorstep:
1. Wealth vases are used to trap and maintain fortune in a home. Several antique shops and online stores sell wealth vases, but it is best if you take the time to make one yourself that is personal to your needs and desires. You should fill up a wealth vase with Chinese coins or coins that carry a special meaning for you. Put in the wealth vase any sentimental jewelry, precious gemstones, crystals, or objects which you feel accurately represent who you are. To finalize your wealth vase, you should cover it with colorful cloths in a very specific order: blue, green, red, yellow, and finally white. After you tie the final piece of white cloth to your wealth vase, you should leave it alone and place it in an area where others will not accidentally break it. High shelves and cupboards are usually great locations for a wealth vase.
2. Having a goldfish aquarium is an easy way to increase your energy. Because the number 8 symbolizes prosperity and wealth in Feng Shui, you should keep 9 fish in your aquarium. 8 of these fish should be gold in color, while the last one should be black. You may ask, why 9 instead of 8? In Chinese tradition, it is said that if your family experiences a great misfortune, the 9th black goldfish you purchase will die instead of you or a family member.
3. Running water fountains represent the natural and smooth flow of money and wealth. The sound of water itself will raise the chi in a room. Make sure that the fountain you select fits the size of the room and enhances your overall décor. Also, the direction of the flowing water should correlate with where the door is located. You want the money to flow towards you, not away from you.
4. Symbols of wealth like a statue of a leaping goldfish or a three-legged toad with a coin in its mouth will greatly increase your potential for wealth. If these objects are a bit too out of the ordinary for your taste, consider purchasing a Prosperity Buddha figurine or a Gold Ingot statue. Other easy symbols of wealth include placing nine foreign coins in a bowl or putting nine coins at the bottom of your fish aquarium.
5. Jade plants are commonly known as the Lucky Tree, Friendship Tree, or Money Plant. Whatever its name, it positively radiates good energy! Small and compact with polished green leaves, the jade plant is another popular symbol of wealth and fortune that you can place in your home or office.
